Delicious and Authentic Japanese Food
If you want to experience a real hibachi grill in Denver or the best gluten-free sushi rolls, look no further. At Sakura Hibachi & Sushi we take our cooking very seriously and for that reason, we use only the most traditional ingredients from Japan. That doesn’t mean that we don’t prepare a mean Rib Eye or New York steak Japanese style. There are many ingredients that are not part of your day to day meals but are integral to Japanese cuisine. Let take a closer look at them.
Common Ingredients
Nori: It is the seaweed that is rolled around the sushi rolls and helps them maintain their form. This edible seaweed is a type of red algae from the genus Porphyra. It is also used as a garnish and for providing flavor to soups and stews.
Wasabi: Also called the Japanese horseradish, wasabi comes from a plant of the Brassicaceae family which includes cabbage, horseradish, and mustard. Known for its pungent smell and strong taste, it is advised to stay clear from if you have a low tolerance for spice in your food.
Teriyaki: It is mostly known to be a sauce but it is actually a cooking technique in which foods are broiled or grilled with a glaze of soy sauce, mirin, and sugar. In America, we call teriyaki any dish that is made with a teriyaki-like sauce.
